The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and supporting electrical and HVAC control systems for commercial and industrial projects. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or alongside a team. The Journeyman Electrician plays a key role in ensuring electrical systems and controls are installed accurately, safely, and in compliance with all applicable codes and project requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and integration of HVAC control systems, including sensors, actuators, controllers, control panels, Cat5 wiring, and communication networks.
- Bend and install EMT, IMC, and rigid conduit; pull wire and perform high-quality terminations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.
- Perform work in accordance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and company standards.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues related to HVAC equipment and control systems.
- Support the Master Electrician on complex installations and provide technical assistance as needed.
- Perform functional testing and assist with system startup and commissioning.
- Maintain strong customer professionalism while representing the company in the field.
- Manage time effectively to meet project schedules and service demands.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites throughout West Michigan.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
- Minimum (5) years of electrical experience, preferably in commercial or HVAC-related work.
- Strong conduit bending, wiring, and termination skills.
- Familiarity with low-voltage systems, control panels, and relay logic.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Experience working with laptops, meters, and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
